Is Eee Pad a Competitor to iPad from Asus

Photo of HP Tablet PC running MS Windows Table...

iPad has made its debut in the market with flash colors and is already been a success. It seems that after iPhone everything launched by Apple is a success no matter if world requires it or not. Even without including estimated revenues from iPad, Apple is already on a bumpy profit line and second quarter seems to be far more profitable with iPad revenues and launch of new iPhone model.

Other companies like Microsoft, Dell and Asus has jumped into the bandwagon of Tablet PCs after the sensational tablet PC from Apple, the iPad. It seems that Asus is going to be second best company to launch a tablet PC that can offer a real competition to our beloved Apple iPad.

This new tablet PC is going to be named as Eee Pad right after popular netbook series of EeePC. The device will run google’s Android on Nvidia Tegra Processor and costs between $479 and $510 with an expected launch in couple of months.

Dell is working on an Android based tablet to compete with hp’s Windows 7 based Slate.

By the end of this year, we are going to see lot of Tablet PCs and this really gonna be a fun.

Shoaib Malik divorces Ayesha to Wed Sania Mirza

Finally, Shoaib Malik has divorced Ayesha Siddiqui by signing the divorce papers and officially ended his marriage. Ayesha got a nominal sum of 340 dollars as Haq Mehar probably.

The divorce came just days ahead of his marriage with Indian Tennis super star Sania Mirza which is scheduled on 15 April, 2010. Shoaib Malik started an affair with Ayesha on phone back in 2001 and Pakistan cricket team had a pretty decent dinner at Ayesha’s house in hyderabad, the birth city of Saniya Mirza to-be wife  of Shoaib Malik. Ayesha accused Shoaib that he dumped her after his team mates judged her as overweight.

Saniya Mirza has won WTA tour title and she is the only indian to accomplish this dream. She broke her childhood engagement just few months ago before this planned wedding. Currently, she is recovering from a wrist injury that has cost her ranking to slip from 27 to 90. Shoaib Malik is also experiencing a year long ban for discipline and match fixing.

There is lot of hype and sensationalization over this sporting marriage between two arch rival south asian nations.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - JANUARY 11: Actress Kate ...

I have kate Winslet after a long long time in April People Magazine. She has definitely changed a lot and i was not able to recognize her even with her name written under her picture. She is really slim now but it has taken the charm and tenderness from face and looks.

She is in New York to shoot HBO’s Mildred Pierce and Sam Mendes is also staying close to her but no with her. They have a son Joe, and a daughter Mia from Kate’s previous marriage. It is speculated that Kate wants to flee NY for England desperately but its seems an overdriven speculation.

I hope that Kate Winslet would be back in a great movie like Titanic because i have not seen any masterpiece from her since Titanic whereas Leonardo Dicaprio has starred in many beautiful films after Titanic.

Gender Gap Widening In Colleges

Although USA Today report suggests that the gender gap on campus is stable -- about 57% female and 43% male -- not worsening but infact its widening and getting worse.

Some reports predicts that it would be 59% female and 41% male by 2018. The reasons for this decline are many and quite opposing. Lets first start with reasons favoring women achievements and their higher proportion in graduate degrees.

Historically, majority of the women were not provided equal  oppurtunities to get primary education let higher education alone. Education was deeply connected to earning and is still very much related to earning till now although earning is not the only objective of education. In the twentieth century, ground realities plus mindset changed and women were given more chances to educate themselves and earn independently. If I am asked to mention a single event that provided an oppurtunity to women in US to get a big share in jobs then i can name First World War without giving a second thought. Males were forced to join the army and women were forced to join the labor force to keep the earning wheel running. They also got the right to vote for their hard work and sacrifice to earn and take care of the house in absent of young men.

Although males want the reports from different departments to be broken down in different fields but no break down of degrees can change the fact that women have achieved a milestone which is going to stay in near future.

A Skeptic and God

Poem by Ronnie Knox

There was once a man who said, "God
Must think it exceedingly odd
If he finds that this tree
Continues to be
When there's no one about in the Quad"

Anonymous Wag in reply to Ronnie's poem

Dear sir, Your astonishment's odd
I am always about in the Quad
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be,
Since observed by Yours faithfully----God

First iPod

On October 23, 2001, Apple held a press conference in Cupertino, California, the birth place of Apple to announce a new product ----the first non computer product released by Apple since the ill fated console gaming system, Pippin, and the first such product produced since Apple co-founder Steve Jobs returned to the company. Web based rumor sites were rife with speculation information manager? An advanced console computing ultimate crock pot?

Steve Job introduced Apple’s first portable music player, iPod which disappointed the audience at the conference who were expected a hifi computing gadget from Apple, Mp3 player was not on their speculative list.

“It has a lot of capacity to store music, ample battery, aesthetically appealing, ease of file transfer and very easy to use  but we were not expecting a mere MP3 player after so much hype in the media and at that too at such a high cost. $399,are you kidding?

This was the initial response from the audience but Apple made a very intelligent move by awarding every attendant a free iPod ath the end of the event.

The trick worked as almost every review appreciated the beautiful slim design, soft rich sound and easy navigation through its menus. Price was criticized but iPod was rated best among the lot. Apple sold 125,000 of them in the first 60 days.

Release 2 and the Second Generation:

In march 2002, Apple released a second iPod model that featured 10GB hard drive costing $499---$100 more with additional features as the ability to keep contacts on your iPod, music scrubbing, on-board equalization.

On october 17, 2002, a new generation was announced with new prices and higher capacity model.
